Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. | My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. |
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. | And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. |

For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! | For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. |
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. | For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. |
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. | It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. |
Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. | Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. |
But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. | But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. |
You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. | For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. |
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. | Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |
But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. | But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. |
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. | And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. |
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” | Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. |
You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. | Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. |
The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. | The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. |
Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. | Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. |
He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. | He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. |
For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. | For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. |
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. | Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. |
But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. | But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. |
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. | This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. |
I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free. | I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. |
In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right. | With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. |
The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? | The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? |
For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ | For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. |
No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. | No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. |
