- As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
we wait for you, O Lord;
your name and your renown
are all that our heart desires. - Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity. - O Lord, you are my God.
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for you have accomplished wonderful things,
formulated in ages past, faithful and sure. - I will offer praise to you, O Lord,
with my whole heart;
I will recount all your wondrous deeds. - O God, you are my God,
for whom I have been searching earnestly.
My soul yearns for you
and my body thirsts for you,
like the earth when it is parched,
arid and without water. - Why are you so disheartened, O my soul?
Why do you sigh within me?
Place your hope in God;
for I will once again praise him,
my Savior and my God. - Therefore, you have no excuse, whoever you may be, when you pass judgment on others. For in judging others you condemn yourself, since you are doing the same things.
- O Lord, you grant peace to those who are steadfast
because of their trust in you. - How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms.
- But from you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
among the tiniest of the clans of Judah,
from you will come forth for me
one who is to be a ruler in Israel,
one whose origins are from the distant past,
from ancient times. - How great is your goodness, O Lord,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and which you bestow on those who take refuge in you,
in the presence of all the people. - But as for you, man of God, you must shun all this. Rather, pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, fortitude, and gentleness.
- Come forth! Let us bow down to worship him;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker. - I will extol you, my God and King;
I will bless your name forever and ever. - Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. - Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples. - Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his mercy endures forever. - I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.” - Salvation comes from the Lord.
May your blessing be upon your people. Selah - Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are his judgments and how unfathomable his ways!
- And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
- Listen, my son, and take my words to heart,
and the years of your life will be multiplied. - I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your precepts. - Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord.
I will not look upon you in anger.
For I am merciful, says the Lord;
my wrath will not continue forever. - Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he protects the souls of his faithful ones
and rescues them from the hand of the wicked.
