But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. | But if we hope for that which we don’t see, we wait for it with patience. |
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. | Knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. |

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love. | With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love. |
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus. | Now the God of perseverance and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus. |
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. | Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance. |
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope. | Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope. |
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. | Preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all patience and teaching. |
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. | However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience for an example of those who were going to believe in him for eternal life. |
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. | But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. |
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. | For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise. |

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. | Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness; and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. |
He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. | He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly. |
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil. | Love is patient and is kind. Love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil. |
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. | Rejoicing in hope, enduring in troubles, continuing steadfastly in prayer. |
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. | Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. |
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. | One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city. |
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. | Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. |
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. | Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. |
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. | Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us. |

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. | The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance. |
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. | For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning. |
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. | Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly. |
