Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly.Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright.

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord.

Then you will gain favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.Wait quietly for the Lord and be patient until he comes. Do not fret over the man who prospers because of his evil schemes.
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.A patient man shows good sense, but a quick-tempered man displays the height of folly.

To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.Whoever gains wisdom loves his own soul; one who cherishes understanding will prosper.
