  • For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
  • Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
  • Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.

    I traded their lives for yours
    because you are precious to me.
    You are honored, and I love you.
  • But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

  • God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
  • What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.
  • Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord.’
  • Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
