Romans 12 (3/4)

  • For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
  • For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
  • For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
  • But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
  • For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
  • So that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
  • Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
  • For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
  • Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
  • For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
  • What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
  • But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
  • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
  • There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
  • For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
  • For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
  • Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
  • If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
  • For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
  • For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
  • The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
  • For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
  • For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
