| You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. | At the appointed time, while we were still helpless, Christ died for the ungodly. |
| Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. | Indeed, it is seldom that anyone will die for a just person, although perhaps for a good person someone might be willing to die. | Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. | Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things. |
| The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. | The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace. |
| Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. | Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God. |
| And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. | If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you. |
