Them (2/4)

  • But Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
  • And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as it had upon us at the beginning.
  • Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.
    So you will find favor and good repute
    in the sight of God and of people.
  • Cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
  • For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.
  • What are human beings that you are mindful of them,
    mortals that you care for them?
  • And the Lord God made garments of skins for the man and for his wife, and clothed them.
  • Great peace have those who love your law;
    nothing can make them stumble.
  • Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his clothing.
  • And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
  • Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
  • No one who conceals transgressions will prosper,
    but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
  • In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
  • Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.”
  • Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
  • God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
  • But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people.”
  • So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
  • They will hunger no more, and thirst no more;
    the sun will not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat;
    for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of the water of life,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
  • Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
  • And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
  • Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
  • The Lord loves those who hate evil;
    he guards the lives of his faithful;
    he rescues them from the hand of the wicked.
  • Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly.
  • But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
