| The righteous call out, and the Lord hears them; he rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. |
| When anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayer is detestable. | He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. |
| A fool is quick to show his anger, but a prudent man ignores an insult. | A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame. |

| They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, my own special possession on the day when I act, and I will have compassion on them as a father has compassion on the son who serves him. | And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. |
| Many are the plans in a human mind, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail. | There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. |
