- Hear my prayer, Yahweh, and give ear to my cry.
Don’t be silent at my tears.
For I am a stranger with you,
a foreigner, as all my fathers were. - When goods increase, those who eat them are increased; and what advantage is there to its owner, except to feast on them with his eyes?
- Don’t be wise in your own eyes.
Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.
It will be health to your body,
and nourishment to your bones. - Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
- I cried to him with my mouth.
He was extolled with my tongue. - But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?
- Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?
- Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up.
- For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
- Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.
- For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you. - Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous.
His ears listen to their cry. - Out of the depths I have cried to you, Yahweh.
Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions. - Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death. - Learn to do well.
Seek justice.
Relieve the oppressed.
Defend the fatherless.
Plead for the widow. - But as for me, I will look to Yahweh.
I will wait for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me. - Remove far from me falsehood and lies.
Give me neither poverty nor riches.
Feed me with the food that is needful for me. - You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child. If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry; and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
- Now the God of perseverance and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus.
- Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand.
- For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.
- We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you toward one another abounds.
- Therefore Yahweh will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for Yahweh is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.
- I am inquired of by those who didn’t ask.
I am found by those who didn’t seek me.
I said, ‘See me, see me,’ to a nation that was not called by my name. - For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the end that you may be established; that is, that I with you may be encouraged in you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.
