- Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me.
Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me. - Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
- For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. - Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name goes all the glory
for your unfailing love and faithfulness. - But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
- Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones. - May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
- Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you. - That is why I can never stop praising you;
I declare your glory all day long. - Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven. - The very essence of your words is truth;
all your just regulations will stand forever. - Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws;
our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. - Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.
- You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness.
- Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
- But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path. - But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.
- I hear the tumult of the raging seas
as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. - Don’t be like your ancestors who would not listen or pay attention when the earlier prophets said to them, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Turn from your evil ways, and stop all your evil practices.’
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. - And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
- So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward
on a firm footing.
