I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner self, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love.
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.Being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
