| Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. | As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. | But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. | But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. |

| Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. | Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. |
| I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. | I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing! |
| Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. | Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. |
| Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? | Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? |
| If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. | Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. |
| Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. | In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. |

| For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. | For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. |
| No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. | No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. |

Even so, Amen. | “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. |
| Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. | But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. |
