which is, being interpreted, “God with us.” - You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you.
- My son, don’t despise Yahweh’s discipline,
neither be weary of his correction;
for whom Yahweh loves, he corrects,
even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights. - Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to David’s city, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.

- “They shall be mine,” says Yahweh of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make. I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.”

for they are the joy of my heart. - For the Son of Man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions,
and, as a cloud, your sins.
Return to me, for I have redeemed you. - Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
- Hear my prayer, Yahweh, and give ear to my cry.
Don’t be silent at my tears.
For I am a stranger with you,
a foreigner, as all my fathers were. - Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.
- If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector.
- My son, attend to my words.
Turn your ear to my sayings.
Let them not depart from your eyes.
Keep them in the center of your heart. - I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies,
as much as in all riches. - For so has the Lord commanded us, saying,
‘I have set you as a light for the Gentiles,
that you should bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.’ - As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. - My son, don’t forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for they will add to you length of days,
years of life, and peace. - As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning.
- I will greatly rejoice in Yahweh!
My soul will be joyful in my God,
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation.
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - I will sing to Yahweh as long as I live.
I will sing praise to my God while I have any being. - A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
- As sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.
- If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
- My son, keep your father’s commandment,
and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching. - “Come now, and let’s reason together,” says Yahweh:
“Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” - While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.
- For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
- But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as law.
- He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
- But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat; and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
- Therefore be merciful,
even as your Father is also merciful.
