- Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it. - For to us a child is born,

- And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
- The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice;
he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. - Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.

- Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
- My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline
or be weary of his reproof,
for the Lord reproves him whom he loves,
as a father the son in whom he delights. - My son, if your heart is wise,

- Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
- As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. - But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
- For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.
- All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

keep them within your heart. - Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- In the way of your testimonies I delight
as much as in all riches. - As far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us. - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
- My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and years of life
and peace they will add to you. - I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
- As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning.
- I will greatly rejoice in the Lord;
my soul shall exult in my God,
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being. - And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
- As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.
- My son, keep your father's commandment,
and forsake not your mother's teaching. - Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
- And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
- For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
- For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you cover him with favor as with a shield.
