Bible Verses about the Church

  • And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
  • For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
  • For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
  • For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.
  • And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
  • Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
  • And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
  • So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.
  • And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
  • Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
  • If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.
  • Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.
  • For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
  • All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
  • Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
  • Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
  • So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.
  • I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
  • But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
  • Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
  • God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
  • For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
  • So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.
  • Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.

So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
