Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. | Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God. |
Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. | Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. |

Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God. | Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat of it, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God. |
I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. | I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. |
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. | We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. |
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. | Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. |
But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. | But he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked. |
Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. | For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. |
Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. | For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening, he shall have whatever he says. |
Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.” | And said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great.” |
For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. | For the love of Christ compels us; because we judge thus: that one died for all, therefore all died. He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again. |
Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. | Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice. |
Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. | Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? |
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. | He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. |
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. | Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. |
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” | “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be enough room for.” |
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. | I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. |
So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. | I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. |
For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. | For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ. |
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. | I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. |
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. | But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life. |
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. | One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. |
Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses. | Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins; and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. |
Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. | Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand. |
So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? | He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith? |
