| My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. | When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. |
| Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet our inner person is being renewed day by day. | That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. |

| But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. | But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. | By this we know that we remain in Him and He in us, because He has given to us of His Spirit. | And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. |

And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! |
| For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. | For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. |
