- For we live by believing and not by seeing.
- This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
- You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
- For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
- But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,
‘People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” - Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
- How can a young person stay pure?
By obeying your word. - So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
- Guide my steps by your word,
so I will not be overcome by evil. - But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.
- The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born. - I will never forget your commandments,
for by them you give me life. - For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
- Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
- Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
- Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
- Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
- O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!
- So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.
- Look at the proud!
They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. - Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.
- I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.
- Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears;
wealth from hard work grows over time. - By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
- So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man.
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.Commit your actions to the Lord,
and your plans will succeed.
