Not because of any righteous deeds on our part but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. | He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we did in righteousness, but in accordance with His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit. |
And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who are peacemakers. | And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. |

Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is great: He was made visible in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed to the Gentiles, believed in throughout the world, taken up in glory. | Beyond question, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory. |
This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another. | By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another. |
Never will I forget your commands, for through them you have given me life. | I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me. |
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. | And He Himself brought our sins in His body up on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds you were healed. |
Although it was our afflictions that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, we thought of him as stricken, as struck down by God and afflicted. | However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, And our pains that He carried; Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, Struck down by God, and humiliated. |
But he is to ask with faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind. | But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. |
The Lord makes a man’s steps secure when he approves of his conduct. | The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way. |
By his own choice he gave us birth through the way of truth so that we may be a kind of firstfruits of all his creation. | In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. |
The proud man’s heart is not upright, but the righteous man will live because of his faith. | Behold, as for the impudent one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous one will live by his faith. |
