- But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
- Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all. - The Lord is good,
a stronghold in the day of trouble;
he knows those who take refuge in him. - To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.
- For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
- The hope of the righteous brings joy,
but the expectation of the wicked will perish. - A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
- Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices! - And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one and his name one.
- Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
- May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
- And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
- By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
- Since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.
- Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
- Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
- Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
- If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.
- Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
- And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
- Understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.
