- A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion. - But who am I, and who are my people,
That we should be able to offer so willingly as this?
For all things come from You,
And of Your own we have given You. - Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all. - The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him. - For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
- The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the expectation of the wicked will perish. - A man who has friends must himself be friendly,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
- Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. - And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
“The Lord is one,”
And His name one. - Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
- Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
- And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
- By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
- Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.
- And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
- Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
- Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
- He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
- If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.
- Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
- But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
- Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.
- Knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.
