- But who am I, and who are my people,
That we should be able to offer so willingly as this?
For all things come from You,
And of Your own we have given You. - I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
- Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all. - A man has joy by the answer of his mouth,
And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! - The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him. - Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have joy. - Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
- For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
- The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the expectation of the wicked will perish. - For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
- Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. - And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
“The Lord is one,”
And His name one. - Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
- Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
- Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
- And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
- Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.
- And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
- Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
- Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
- He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
- If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.
- Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
- But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ.
