| Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. | Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. |
| Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. | In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. |

| He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. | He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. |
| Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. | Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. |
| You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! | Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. |
| If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. | If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. |
| But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled. | But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. |

| Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. | Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. | Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. |
| Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. | Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. |
| Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. | For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. |
| And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. | Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. |
| The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. |
| Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. | And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. |
| For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. | For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. |
