Chinese (traditional)- The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? - The Lord commanded us to observe all of these statutes and to fear the Lord, our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, even as we are today.
- Even though I wander
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are at my side,
with your rod and your staff
that comfort me. - With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid.
What can mortals do to me? - How great is your goodness, O Lord,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and which you bestow on those who take refuge in you,
in the presence of all the people. - Therefore, observe the commandments of the Lord, your God. Walk in his ways and fear him.
- Oh, that they would have fear of me in their hearts and they would observe all of my commandments always. Then things would go well with them and their children forever.
- It is the Lord, your God, whom you are to follow. You must fear him and observe his commandments and obey what he tells you and serve him and hold fast to him.
- I treasure your word in my heart
for fear that I may sin against you. - Meanwhile, the Church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed peace, building up strength and living in the fear of the Lord. Encouraged by the Holy Spirit, the Church grew in numbers.
- In God, whose word I praise,
in God I place my trust and know no fear;
what can people do to me? - Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from anything that can defile flesh or spirit, and thereby make our holiness perfect in the fear of God.
- But for you who fear my name
the sun of justice will arise
with its healing rays.
You will emerge leaping
like calves released from the stall. - When Jesus heard this, he said, “Do not be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be saved.”
- But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.”
- For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but rather a spirit of power and of love and of wisdom.
- But from everlasting to everlasting
the kindness of the Lord is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children,
with those who keep his covenant
and diligently observe his commandments. - Blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and whose hope is the Lord.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that spreads out its roots to the stream.
When the heat comes, it does not fear;
its leaves stay green.
It is not concerned in a year of drought,
and it never fails to bear fruit. - Do not be afraid or dismayed, the Lord will go before you; he will not fail or forsake you.
- Therefore, we can say with confidence:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?” - I, I alone, am the one who comforts you.
Why then do you fear mortal men who must die,
human beings who must perish like grass? - Teach me your ways, O Lord,
so that I may walk in your truth;
let me worship your name
with an undivided heart. - Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. Even the hairs on your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth far more than any number of sparrows.
- You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him.
- Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified of them, for the Lord, your God, is going forth with you. He will never leave you or abandon you.
Rather, I discipline my body and bring it under control, for fear that after preaching to others I myself may be disqualified.Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
