Bible Verses about 'Friend'

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Some friends can lead us to ruin, but a true friend is closer than a brother.
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.A true friend is one at all times, and a brother is born to render help in time of need.
Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your father, and do not run to your brother’s house when troubles befall you; far better is a friend nearby than a brother who is far away.
To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. One who despairs should have the support of his friends even if he has forsaken the fear of the Almighty.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the wits of his neighbor.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.Adulterers! Do you not know that love of the world results in enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. One who forgives a misdeed fosters friendship, but he who divulges it separates good friends.
A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.A perverse man sows strife, and a tale-bearer destroys close friendships.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. The one who leads a blameless life and does what is right, who speaks the truth from the heart and does not slander anyone, who does not harm a friend and does not scorn a neighbor.
And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.Thereupon the Lord restored the prosperity of Job after he had prayed for his friends, and he enriched him with twice as much as he had possessed before.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.Beloved, I pray that everything is going well with you and that your bodily health is equal to that of your soul.
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.Beloved, since God loved us so much, we should love one another.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.But do not ignore this one fact, beloved: with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye?
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.Beloved, do not trust every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we can approach God with confidence and receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do whatever is pleasing to him.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from anything that can defile flesh or spirit, and thereby make our holiness perfect in the fear of God.
An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered. With his mouth the godless man seeks to ruin his neighbor, but knowledge enables the righteous to be delivered.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more certain it is that, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.Beloved, we are God’s children now. What we shall be has not yet been revealed. However, we do know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he really is. Everyone who has this hope in him keeps himself pure, just as he is pure.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.Behold, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person and that person with me.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.Brethren, if anyone is detected committing a transgression, you who are spiritual must set him right in a spirit of gentleness.
