| Let the husband give his wife the affection owed her, and likewise also the wife her husband. The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife does. | A husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise a wife should fulfill her conjugal obligations to her husband. | Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. As I gave you the green herb, I have given everything to you. | If you will diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh who heals you. | If you listen to the voice of the Lord, your God, and you do what is right in his sight, if you listen to his ordinances and observe all of his laws, I will not bring upon you any of the diseases that I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you. |
| Yahweh is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him. | The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart places its trust in him. He has helped me, and I exult; then with my song I praise him. |
| Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. | By his own choice he gave us birth through the way of truth so that we may be a kind of firstfruits of all his creation. |

| But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own. | But who am I, and what are your people, that we should be able to do this? All things belong to you, and everything that we have given you is from your hand. |
| For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have. | As long as the goodwill is present, the gift will be acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. |
| Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. | Nor would someone light a lamp and then put it under a basket; rather, it is placed upon a lampstand so that it may afford light to all in the house. In the same way, your light must shine so that it can be seen by others; this will enable them to observe your good works and give praise to your Father in heaven. |
| Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established. | Ensure that the path you tread is level, and then your ways will be sure. |
| I thank you and praise you, O God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we desired of you; for you have made known to us the king’s matter. | To you, O God of my fathers, I offer thanks and praise because you have given me wisdom and power. Now you have made known to me what we asked of you; you have revealed to us the king’s dream. |
| Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you. | If you would seriously consider my reproof, I would pour out my thoughts to you and make my precepts known to you. |
| For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, continually doing this very thing. | That is why you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, and they devote themselves to this service. |
| May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. | May mercy, peace, and love be granted you in abundance. |
| House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh. | A house and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is a gift from the Lord. |
| All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins. | To him all the Prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name. |
| Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? | Do you suppose that I cannot appeal to my Father for help and he will not immediately send me more than twelve legions of angels? |
