Giving to the needy (3/4)

  • If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
  • And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
  • Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
  • Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
  • Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
    but those who act faithfully are his delight.
  • Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
  • Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
  • And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
  • And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”
  • Take with you words
    and return to the Lord;
    say to him,
    “Take away all iniquity;
    accept what is good,
    and we will pay with bulls
    the vows of our lips.”
  • And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
  • He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
  • In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
  • For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
  • I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
  • Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him, and he will act.
    He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
    and your justice as the noonday.
  • I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
  • But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
  • So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
  • Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
    O Lord, hear my voice!
    Let your ears be attentive
    to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
  • Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
  • Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
  • Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
  • May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
  • And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
