- Seek the Lord while he still may be found;
call to him when he is close at hand. - If I give away everything to feed the poor
and hand over my body to be burned,
but do not have love,
I achieve nothing. - Behold, we are now going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised to life.
- But who am I, and what are your people,
that we should be able to do this?
All things belong to you,
and everything that we have given you is from your hand. - The end of all things is near. Therefore, lead disciplined lives and be watchful in prayer.

when it is in your power to grant it. - Just as he came forth naked from his mother’s womb,

with nothing remaining from his labor
that he can carry away in his hands. - Do not swerve either to the right or to the left;
keep your foot far from evil. - The Lord God said, “Behold, man has become like one of us, for he has knowledge of that which is good and that which is evil. Now, we must prevent him from reaching out and taking the fruit of the tree of life lest he eat it and live forever.” The Lord God cast him out of the Garden of Eden; henceforth he was to labor tilling the soil from which he had come.
- Ah, Lord God, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm. Nothing is impossible for you.
- Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away,
but when amassed little by little, it will increase. - Stand firm, then, with the belt of truth fastened around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness clothing you, and with your feet shod in zeal to proclaim the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold in your hand the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
- When they arrest you and bring you to trial, do not be concerned beforehand about what you are to say. Simply say whatever is given to you when that time comes, for it will not be you who speak but the Holy Spirit.
