| In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.” | He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. |

| No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known. | No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. |
| Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. | Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. |

| No one who denies the Son has the Father; everyone who confesses the Son has the Father also. | Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. |
| He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. | He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. |
| As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. | Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. |
| Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly. | He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. |
| So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! | Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. |

| God is not a human being, that he should lie, or a mortal, that he should change his mind. Has he promised, and will he not do it? Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? | God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? |
