| Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that weighs us down and the sins that so easily distract us and with perseverance run the race that lies ahead of us. | Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. |

| Do not let kindness and fidelity leave you; fasten them around your neck and inscribe them on the tablet of your heart. | Therefore, let us leave behind the basic teaching about Christ and advance toward maturity. We must not be forever laying the foundation: repentance for actions that lead to death, faith in God, instruction about baptisms and the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. | Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. |
| Be strong and courageous in your hearts, all you who place your hope in the Lord. | Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. |
| But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Your almsgiving must be done in secret. | The powerful suffer want and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord want for no good thing. | The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. |
| Place your hope in the Lord: be strong and courageous in your heart, and place your hope in the Lord. | Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. |
| If anyone would boast, let him boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is really approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. | But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. |

| One person may consider one day to be more sacred than another, while another may judge all days to be alike. Let everyone be convinced in his own beliefs. | One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. |
| He will not permit your foot to stumble; he who guards you will not fall asleep. | He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. |
