- So be strong and courageous,
all you who put your hope in the Lord! - He reveals deep and mysterious things
and knows what lies hidden in darkness,
though he is surrounded by light. - For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
- May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you his favor
and give you his peace. - But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.

Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. - This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward
on a firm footing. - The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble? - He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber. - They did not conquer the land with their swords;
it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory.
It was your right hand and strong arm
and the blinding light from your face that helped them,
for you loved them. - I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
- Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.
- For the Lord gave us this command when he said,
‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles,
to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ - No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
- Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
- But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.
- I have tried hard to find you—
don’t let me wander from your commands. - Come, let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker. - For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
- Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!
- My child, never forget the things I have taught you.
Store my commands in your heart.
If you do this, you will live many years,
and your life will be satisfying. - But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
- Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.
- Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
