Bible Verses about 'Lie'

  • A faithful witness will not lie:
    but a false witness will utter lies.
  • I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep:
    for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
  • If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.
  • The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
    he leadeth me beside the still waters.
  • God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
  • Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
  • But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
  • But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
  • Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
  • And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
  • Remove far from me vanity and lies:
    give me neither poverty nor riches;
    feed me with food convenient for me.
  • Keep thy tongue from evil,
    and thy lips from speaking guile.
  • Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.
  • If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
  • Lord, all my desire is before thee;
    and my groaning is not hid from thee.
  • He revealeth the deep and secret things:
    he knoweth what is in the darkness,
    and the light dwelleth with him.
  • Let thine eyes look right on,
    and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
  • Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
  • Excellent speech becometh not a fool:
    much less do lying lips a prince.
  • Although the fig tree shall not blossom,
    neither shall fruit be in the vines;
    the labour of the olive shall fail,
    and the fields shall yield no meat;
    the flock shall be cut off from the fold,
    and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
    Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
    I will joy in the God of my salvation.
  • Thus saith the Lord,
    Stand ye in the ways, and see,
    and ask for the old paths,
    where is the good way, and walk therein,
    and ye shall find rest for your souls.
    But they said, We will not walk therein.
  • Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
  • For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
