- A faithful witness will not lie:
but a false witness will utter lies. - Keep thy tongue from evil,
and thy lips from speaking guile. - Remove far from me vanity and lies:
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me. - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
- He revealeth the deep and secret things:
he knoweth what is in the darkness,
and the light dwelleth with him. - Let thine eyes look right on,
and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. - Excellent speech becometh not a fool:
much less do lying lips a prince. - Thus saith the Lord,
Stand ye in the ways, and see,
and ask for the old paths,
where is the good way, and walk therein,
and ye shall find rest for your souls.
But they said, We will not walk therein. - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
- For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
- And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
- God setteth the solitary in families:
he bringeth out those which are bound with chains:
but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory. Selah.
