Man (3/4)

It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man.It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in mortals.
Praise Yah! Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh, who delights greatly in his commandments.Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments.
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?Or can one walk on hot coals without scorching the feet?
So that with good courage we say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?”So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”
He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?” He said to them, “Did you never read what David did when he had need and was hungry—he, and those who were with him? How he entered into God’s house at the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?” He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up.See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised.
Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.How much more valuable is a human being than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath.
God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart.
But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.Wealth is a ransom for a person's life, but the poor get no threats.
A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.The clever see danger and hide; but the simple go on, and suffer for it.
Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and doesn’t sin.Surely there is no one on earth so righteous as to do good without ever sinning.
Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. How happy is the one whom God reproves; therefore do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”
It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling. It is honorable to refrain from strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind. Some judge one day to be better than another, while others judge all days to be alike. Let all be fully convinced in their own minds.
It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment. It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice.
Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction. He opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one destined for destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God.
Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins; and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.Let it be known to you therefore, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you; by this Jesus everyone who believes is set free from all those sins from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint.Like a city breached, without walls, is one who lacks self-control.
Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them. And the Lord God made garments of skins for the man and for his wife, and clothed them.
Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever—” Therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers.Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers.

The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him.
