Man (4/4)

The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him.
A man’s steps are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way.Our steps are made firm by the Lord, when he delights in our way.
A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Some friends play at friendship but a true friend sticks closer than one's nearest kin.
With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man, you will show yourself perfect. With the loyal you show yourself loyal; with the blameless you show yourself blameless.
Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices.
He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator.Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator.
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,” and begin to reflect only after making a vow.
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.
He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”And he said, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.Because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge. With their mouths the godless would destroy their neighbors, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.
Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work. And steadfast love belongs to you, O Lord. For you repay to all according to their work.
A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. The human mind plans the way, but the Lord directs the steps.
“They shall be mine,” says Yahweh of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make. I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.”They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, my special possession on the day when I act, and I will spare them as parents spare their children who serve them.
Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways. For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright.Do not envy the violent and do not choose any of their ways; for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.
A fool shows his annoyance the same day, but one who overlooks an insult is prudent.Fools show their anger at once, but the prudent ignore an insult.
If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”But Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord.
For we all stumble in many things. Anyone who doesn’t stumble in word is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also. For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is perfect, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle.
Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.”
The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips.Words spoken by the wise bring them favor, but the lips of fools consume them.
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one.
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord.Pursue peace with everyone, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
