Own (3/4)

The wealth of a rich man is his stronghold; he regards it as a high wall that cannot be scaled. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine. And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.
For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith. This has not come from you but from the gift of God. It does not come from works, so that no one can boast. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Be doers of the word and not just hearers who only deceive themselves. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Exhort slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give them satisfaction in every respect. They are not to talk back to them, nor are they to steal from them. Rather, they should show themselves to be completely trustworthy so that in every way they may add luster to the doctrine of God our Savior.Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless is the man devoid of self-control.He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Indeed, it is seldom that anyone will die for a just person, although perhaps for a good person someone might be willing to die. Thus, God proved his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms.Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
The Lord will fulfill his plan for me. Your kindness, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the work of your hands. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.
However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband.Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
If anyone thinks that he is religious but does not restrain his tongue, he is deceiving himself, and his religion is worthless. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not treat them harshly.Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad.My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and offered worship and service to the creature rather than to the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices. Likewise, men gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameful acts with men and received in their own persons the fitting penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since these people did not see fit to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their depraved way of thinking and to all types of vile behavior.Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.
May he give you your heart’s desire and grant you success in all your plans.Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
Not because of any righteous deeds on our part but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your father, and do not run to your brother’s house when troubles befall you; far better is a friend nearby than a brother who is far away.Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.”And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Whoever observes the commandments will live, but the one who scorns them will die.He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.
You shall obey his statutes and the commandments that I give you today, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, and that you may live long in the land that the Lord, your God, has given you for all time.Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, for ever.

Then he said to all who were with him, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

It is better to be a patient man rather than a warrior,

Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.Next verse! With image
