Proverbs 3:5 (5/6)

It is a snare to say rashly, “It is holy,” and to reflect only after making vows.It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor. He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
All day long he craves and craves, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist.Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
My son, if your heart is wise, my heart too will be glad.My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
Do not forsake your friend and your father's friend, and do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away.Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination. He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me.Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me.

Bible verse of the day

Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
