Proverbs 3:5 (2/6)

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.Tainted wealth has no lasting value, but right living can save your life.
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.The godly are showered with blessings; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.
The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away.
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses.
He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray.
He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless.
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.
The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people.
Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.
An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.With their words, the godless destroy their friends, but knowledge will rescue the righteous.
A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence.
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.Evil people get rich for the moment, but the reward of the godly will last.
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace!
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave.
