Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? | Who then can separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? |
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. | No, throughout all these things we are conquerors because of him who loved us. |
For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. | For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. | For Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for the justification of all who believe. |
That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. | If you confess with your lips, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. |
For with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. | For one believes in the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. |
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.” | As Scripture asserts, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.” |
For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” | Indeed, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” |
So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. | So then, faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ. |
Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out! | Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are his judgments and how unfathomable his ways! |
For of him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen. | For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. |
Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. | Therefore, brethren, I implore you by the mercies of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God—a spiritual act of worship. |
Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. | Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your minds, so that you will be able to discern the will of God and to know what is good and acceptable and perfect. |
For I say through the grace that was given me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith. | Through the grace that God has bestowed upon me, I advise every one of you not to think of yourself too highly, but to regard yourself objectively, based on the measure of faith that God has granted. |
For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. | For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another. |
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. | Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good. |
In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor prefer one another. | Love one another with genuine affection. Esteem others more highly than yourself. |

Rejoicing in hope, enduring in troubles, continuing steadfastly in prayer. | Be joyful in your hope. Be patient in times of affliction. Persevere in prayer. |

Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep. | Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. |
Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. | Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited. |
If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. | As much as possible, and to the extent of your ability, live in peace with everyone. |
Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.” | Dearly beloved, never seek revenge. Leave that to the time of retribution. For it is written, “Vengeance is mine, says the Lord. I will repay.” |
