- Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives;
those who open wide their lips come to ruin. - Repent and turn from all your transgressions; otherwise iniquity will be your ruin.
- The wise of heart will heed commandments,
but a babbling fool will come to ruin. - But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
- Some friends play at friendship
but a true friend sticks closer than one's nearest kin. - The Lord watches over the strangers;
he upholds the orphan and the widow,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin. - The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright,
but destruction for evildoers. - Do not be deceived:
“Bad company ruins good morals.” - With their mouths the godless would destroy their neighbors,
but by knowledge the righteous are delivered. - For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly act justly one with another, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your ancestors forever and ever.
- Can a woman forget her nursing child,
or show no compassion for the child of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me.
My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.Next verse!With image
