Spirit (2/4)

  • By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
  • I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
  • And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
  • There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling.
  • Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
  • And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.
  • A man’s pride will bring him low,
    But the humble in spirit will retain honor.
  • Teach me to do Your will,
    For You are my God;
    Your Spirit is good.
    Lead me in the land of uprightness.
  • And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
  • The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
    A broken and a contrite heart—
    These, O God, You will not despise.
  • Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
  • Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
  • Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
  • I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
  • Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
  • This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
    ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
    Says the Lord of hosts.
  • Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
  • And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.
  • So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
  • Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
  • And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last.
  • For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
  • The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
  • For thus says the High and Lofty One
    Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
    “I dwell in the high and holy place,
    With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
    To revive the spirit of the humble,
    And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
