It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. | It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man. |
If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. | He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me isn’t worthy of me. |

Take care of any widow who has no one else to care for her. | Honor widows who are widows indeed. |
So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord! | Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in Yahweh. |
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. | I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world. |
Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! | Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. |
Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. | Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. |
After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. | For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. |
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. | Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him. |
