The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. | The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. |
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.” | O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” |

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. | One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. |
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. | He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord. |
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. | But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. |
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. | For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. |
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. | For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. |
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. | All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. |
So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. | So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. |
Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. | Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. |
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. | Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. |
Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” | But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” |
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” | Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” |
You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed. | And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. |
Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed. | Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed. |
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. | Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. |
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” | Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” |
When anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess in what way they have sinned. | And it shall be, when he is guilty in any of these matters, that he shall confess that he has sinned in that thing. |
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. | For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. |
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. | Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. |
A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word! | A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! |
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret. | A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter. |
But I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you. | But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’ |
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. | For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! | Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. |
