- A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
but an undisciplined tongue crushes the spirit. - Then keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies. - I lifted up my voice in prayer to him;
his praise was on my tongue. - A word is not even on my tongue
and you, O Lord, are completely aware of it. - The tongue has the power over life and death;
those who cherish it will enjoy its fruits. - And every tongue should proclaim
to the glory of God the Father:
Jesus Christ is Lord. - The tongue of the just man is like pure silver;
the heart of the wicked is without worth. - For it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord,
every knee shall bow before me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.” - Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues. - If anyone thinks that he is religious but does not restrain his tongue, he is deceiving himself, and his religion is worthless.
- For:
“If anyone wishes to love life
and to experience good days,
he must restrain his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
He must turn away from evil and do good,
seek peace and pursue it.” - The words of a wise man win favor,
but a fool’s tongue is his undoing. - In the netherworld, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham, far off, and Lazarus by his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames.’
- Where many words are spoken, sin is not absent,
but whoever restrains his tongue is prudent. - Dear children,
let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth. - The one who leads a blameless life
and does what is right,
who speaks the truth from the heart
and does not slander anyone,
who does not harm a friend
and does not scorn a neighbor. - No weapon used against you will prevail,
and you will refute every accusation
that is raised in court against you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
their vindication from me, says the Lord. - He who guards his mouth makes his life secure,
but one who talks excessively ensures his own downfall. - Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to do so.
- If in speaking I use human tongues
and angelic as well,
but do not have love,
I am nothing more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. - On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts:
he is the King of glory. Selah
