they earn a far greater reward for their toil. - For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst.
- For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh. - He said to them in reply, “Anyone who has two coats must share with the person who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.”
- And where a single man can be overcome,
two together will be able to resist.
A cord with three strands is not easily broken. - He proclaimed his covenant to you which he ordered you to fulfill, the Ten Commandments, that he wrote upon two tablets of stone.
- But from the very beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh.’ And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.
- No one can serve two masters. For you will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
- He replied, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said: ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh’? And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Now in regard to the eating of meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world and that there is only one God. You who abide in the shelter of the Most High,
who rest in the shadow of the Almighty,
