Water to drink (2/4)

  • The generous soul will be made rich,
    And he who waters will also be watered himself.
  • They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
  • These you may eat of all that are in the waters: you may eat all that have fins and scales. And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.
  • Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
    And whose hope is the Lord.
    For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
    Which spreads out its roots by the river,
    And will not fear when heat comes;
    But its leaf will be green,
    And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
    Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
  • There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
  • Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

    But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.”

    The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.
  • And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
  • So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
  • Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
  • He who builds His layers in the sky,
    And has founded His strata in the earth;
    Who calls for the waters of the sea,
    And pours them out on the face of the earth—
    The Lord is His name.
  • For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
  • Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
  • So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
  • Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ”
  • I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
  • For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
  • For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
  • It is better to trust in the Lord
    Than to put confidence in man.
  • Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
  • Who “will render to each one according to his deeds”
  • The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
    Because He has anointed Me
    To preach the gospel to the poor;
    He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
    To proclaim liberty to the captives
    And recovery of sight to the blind,
    To set at liberty those who are oppressed.
  • And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
  • Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
  • There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?

How much better to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
