Well (2/3)

  • Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
  • No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
  • Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do.
  • But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
  • Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
  • How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
  • Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.
  • What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
  • For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.
  • If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
  • They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
  • So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.”
  • So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
  • Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  • God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
  • Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
  • Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
  • And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
  • For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
  • What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
  • Then you will understand what is right and just
    and fair—every good path.
  • Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
  • Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
  • What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
  • There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
