- So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
- About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
- And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. - Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
- For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
- For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
and by the breath of his mouth all their host. - And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
- For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
- When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
- For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
- But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
- Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
- Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
- All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
- There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call.
- For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
- Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?”
For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. - God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
- And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
- And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
- And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
- Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common.
- On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.
- Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
- But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
- And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
- For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
- For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
- For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
- While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
- Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.
- For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
- And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
- For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
- And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
- For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
- Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
- Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
- You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
- And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
- Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
- Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and give ear to my cry;
hold not your peace at my tears!
For I am a sojourner with you,
a guest, like all my fathers. - I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks.
- So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.
