God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). | Now all this has happened that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall give birth to a son. They shall call his name Immanuel,” which is, being interpreted, “God with us.” |
