- For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
- A merry heart doeth good like a medicine:
but a broken spirit drieth the bones. - A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
- A wholesome tongue is a tree of life:

- The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
a broken and a contrite heart,
O God, thou wilt not despise. - And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
- And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
- A man's pride shall bring him low:
but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. - And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
- Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
- And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
- And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
